Lenford W. “Bud” Miller
Lenford W. “Bud” Miller, age 86, Independence, died Jan. 27, 2010 at Maywood Terrace Nursing Home.
Bud was born June 11, 1923 in Vista. Formerly of Lee’s Summit, Bud worked in the CCC camps, then joined the U.S. Army and was stationed in Saipan in World War II. He worked construction for Unity Farms for 17 years, but retired in 1988 from the Independence School District as a custodian.
Bud was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church of Independence. He loved fishing, growing tomatoes, fixing cars, cutting grass, country music and playing guitar.
Bud was preceded in death by his wife, Dollie; five sisters; and his parents.
He is survived by Elizabeth “Ann” (Richard) McKie, Independence; Bill Miller, Lee’s Summit; Mary (Larry) Kegarice, Independence; sister, Joyce Harrington, Kansas City, Kan.; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
A special thanks to the Three Rivers Hospice, Maywood Terrace and the Kansas City VA Meidcal Center. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. in the Langsford Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. with burial in Lee’s Summit Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
