LSPD searching for armed robbery suspect

Lee’s Summit Police Department detectives are asking area residents who may have information about an armed robbery suspect, to contact them.

According to reports, at 1:05 p.m. Monday, officers were dispatched to Salon Ritz, located at 615 S.W. Second St. on a report of an armed robbery.

Employees reported a heavy set black male entered the business and demanded money after brandishing a silver handgun. Witnesses also reported the subject was wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt under a blue jacket, with baggy blue jeans and black tennis shoes with white soles.

The subject pulled the hood over his head to disguise his full identity before entering the business. After getting what money he could, police said the subject fled the area on foot running eastbound, the same direction he came from.

No injuries were reported. Police said the subject only brandished the firearm. No shots were fired.

LSPD detectives are asking if anyone witnessed the subject running from the business or has information related to the crime to contact the LSPD directly at 816-969-1720.
