Richard Wayne Thomas

Richard Wayne Thomas, 63, Lee’s Summit, died Feb. 3 at John Knox Village Care Center, Lee’s Summit, after a battle with cancer.

He was born March 10, 1946 in Kansas City to Waverly Thomas and Lois Keck Thomas. Richard was a Lee’s Summit native. On June 26, 1965, Richard married Rae Ann Van Vleet. He worked for the city water department for 31 years before his retirement. He was also a volunteer firefighter in 1976.

Richard was preceded in death by his son, Ronald William (Tuff) Thomas in 1989; his father, W.B. Thomas; and his grandparents.

He is survived by his wife, Rae Ann Thomas; daughter, Kelly Rae (Thomas) McGlothlin and husband, Mark; son, Rick Thomas; grandchildren, Lindsey, Matthew and Jonathan; mother, Lois Keck Thomas; and his brother, John W. Thomas.

Richard will have a visitation from 9 to 10 a.m. Feb. 6 in the Langsford Funeral Home Chapel with the service to follow at 10 a.m. Burial will be in the Lee’s Summit Cemetery.

Memorials can be given to the donor’s choice.
