Larry and Marty Young, Lee’s Summit, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary Nov. 16, 2011.

They met on a blind date Aug. 4, 1950. They were married at the Raytown Christian Church, Raytown, Mo. They are proud parents of a son, Craig, and his wife, Shaun; and a daughter, Donna, and her husband, Mike. They have two grandchildren, Steve and Jeff.

Larry retired from Allstate Insurance Co. after 33 years and is currently working part-time at the Lee’s Summit Municipal Airport. He was a square dance caller for 22 years and was a member of the K.C. Callers Association. He has been president of the Experimental Aircraft Association Chapter 19 based at the Lee’s Summit Municipal Airport for 17 years. Marty worked for 30 years, full-time and part-time at several positions including at the Federal Reserve Bank, Raytown Bank, Sears, Arthur Andersen and Co. and Labat Anderson, but mostly enjoyed being a wife and mother.

Friends and relatives attended their anniversary celebration at the Emaline Ballroom, Lee’s Summit, and enjoyed the music of Mark Valentine.
