Cardiologists join medical center staff
Lees Summit Medical Center, part of the HCA Midwest Health System, has added cardiologists Nichole Polin and Patrick Santiago to its staff.
Dr. Polin, who practices with Midwest Heart and Vascular Specialists, part of Midwest Physicians, is board-certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, nuclear cardiology and interventional cardiology.
She has clinical interests in interventional cardiology and womens cardiovascular health.
Polin most recently was in private practice in Pennsylvania, where she specialized in clinical and interventional cardiology. She also has served as an assistant professor at Weill Medical College of Cornell University.
Polin received her medical degree from MCP/Hahnemann University School of Medicine in Philadelphia.
Dr. Santiago, who practices with Midwest Heart Associates, part of Midwest Physicians, is a board-certified noninvasive cardiologist with expertise in echocardiograms, nuclear imaging, cardioversion and more.
He has a research, lecturing and academic background in addition to his clinical experience. He has served in numerous cardiology-related leadership and committee positions at area hospitals and is a former associate professor of medicine at the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
Santiago trained at the Autonomous University of Guadalajara, Mexico, and continued his studies at New York Medical College.
Polin and Santiago care for patients who have cardiovascular disease. They also care for cardiovascular patients who come to Lees Summit Medical Centers emergency room with active cardiac symptoms.
