The carnival side show that is The Donald continues.

And if Republicans have any common sense at all, they will run as fast as they can from this punch line.

See, Donald Trump is testing all of our intelligence by saying he will host a presidential forum on Dec. 27. The only one to bite – and he should have his head examined for doing so – is the new GOP frontrunner, Newt Gingrich. I cannot believe Gingrich went to New York in search of some nod from Trump and it is even more shocking to think he needs to take part in any type of forum that is moderated by the ego maniac. Some higher ups in the party need to tell Trump what the rest of America is thinking: go away. Associating with Trump right now, especially after his Obama birth certificate debacle, is going to be a strike against any Republican. At least two of them know it, too.

Former Ambassador to China Jon Huntsman publicly said he isn’t going to kiss The Donald’s ring. And U.S. Rep. Ron Paul scoffed at the notion that Trump gets to “anoint” anyone in the party with his endorsement. Amen to both of those sentiments.

Trump is a TV celebrity of the most annoying brand. And what’s worse, he’s got candidates chasing him around like lost puppy dogs in need of some political bone. Trump isn’t the one that’s going to give it to them.

In fact, I see his association hurting candidates. I sincerely hope Michele Bachmann, Rick Perry and others don’t fall into this black hole of desperately searching for Trump’s nod toward the White House. What’s even more offensive is that during some recent TV interviews, Trump questioned the quality of the Republican field and, again, opened himself up for a possible run – this time as an Independent. When have we had enough of this?

Obama and his campaign staff just have to love the circus atmosphere Trump continues to bring to the Republican circles.

Someone with some leadership in the party needs to launch this guy into next week.

Ross Perot was fun. Heck, he even made a little sense.

Trump is scary and disruptive. And not in an entertaining way.
