Marjorie Elizabeth Green
Marjorie Elizabeth Green, 66, Lees Summit, peacefully passed away Dec. 6, 2011, at the Kansas City Hospice House surrounded by her family.
Marjorie was born Oct. 14, 1945, in Kansas City, to Victor and Virginia Hess. She spent the majority of her life in the Kansas City area, although she loved to travel. In 1966, she married her husband of 34 years, James Green III, who also passed away from cancer in 2000.
She was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church for 33 years. Marjorie worked as a bookkeeper for the family business, the James A. Green Jr. Company, and as a para-professional working with elementary-aged special education students for the Lees Summit School District. She was a volunteer at the Ronald McDonald House and Childrens Mercy Hospital. She was a founding member of the local chapter of the Red Hat Society and was very active in her church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Victor and Virginia Hess; her loving husband, James Green III; and her beloved father-in-law, James Green Jr.
Marjorie is survived by her brother, Robert Hess; her children, Kelli Shiao, Mary Virginia Williams and her husband, Steven, James Green IV and his wife, Valerie; and seven grandchildren, Ditri, Jordan, Aidri, Kelsi, Logan, Cameron and Kierra. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m., Dec. 9, at Langsford Funeral Home, Lees Summit. Rosary will be at 8:45 p.m. Funeral services will be at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Lees Summit, at 10 a.m., Dec. 10, with a graveside service immediately following at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Kansas City.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Ronald McDonald House and the Make a Wish Foundation.
