Free AARP tax service needs volunteers
The AARP Tax-Aide program, a free tax preparation service for taxpayers with middle and low incomes, particularly those 60 and older, is seeking volunteers.
Lees Summit volunteers filed more than 450 returns through the service last year.
Those who can spare a day or two a week between Feb. 1 and April 17 are urged to call 816-616-6560 or 816-373-8460.
Training will be provided in December or January.
Volunteers will provide the free service from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. during the filing season at the Gamber Senior Center on Fridays, the Oldham Parkway library on Tuesdays and the Colbern Road library on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
