Lawrence W. Gillenwater, 92, Marshall, formerly of Lee’s Summit, died Dec. 18, 2011, at Fitzgibbon Hospital, Marshall.

Born Oct. 15, 1919, in Weir, Kan., he was the son of the late Edward E. Gillenwater and Elsie Cunningham Gillenwater. He was an United States Army veteran of World War II. On April 28, 1956, he married Lucy Montieth who preceded him in death Aug. 21, 2006. He retired from General Motors and was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Gladstone. He lived in Marshall the last four years moving from Lee’s Summit.

Survivors include two sisters, Helen Kennedy, Grove, Okla., and Maxine Short, Marshall; five nieces; and two nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Vera Landers, Eva Gillenwater and Mary Louise Gillenwater; and one brother, Floyd Gillenwater.

Inurnment will be at a later date in Hosey Hill Cemetery, Weir.

Memorials may be made to the Community Cancer Center, Marshall.
