Richard J. Beckwith Sr., 72, baptized in the Hope of Christ’s Resurrection, died Dec. 24, 2011.

Richard was the beloved husband of the late Sara E. “Sue” Beckwith (nee Denny); dear father of Richard J. Jr., Mary F. Schroeder, Susanne M. James and the late Thomas William and Frederic Gerau Beckwith, asleep with the angels; dear son of the late Viola F. Beckwith (nee Gerau) and the late Elmer F. Beckwith; dear brother of Francis L. Beckwith and Elizabeth J. Beckwith; dear grandfather of Lindsey M. James, Thomas R. Beckwith, Elinor K. Beckwith, Lillian G. James and Isabel M. Schroeder. He was also a dear father-in-law, brother-in-law, uncle, great-uncle and cousin.

Richard was a past Grand Knight of Our Lady of the Lake Council 9273; Knights of Columbus; past president of Lake Ozark Lions Club; past member of Bishop Marling Fourth Degree Assembly Knights of Columbus 2111; past international director of Exchange Students of Lake Ozark Rotary; lifetime member of Lake Ozark Hospital Auxiliary; active volunteer at Lake Regional Health Center for many years; past member of Our Lady of the Lake Parish Council; past hospital visitor; Eucharistic minister; organist; and CCD instructor at Our Lady of the Lake.

Mass was Dec. 27 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Graveside services and interment are at 2 p.m., Dec. 28, at SS Peter and Paul Cemetery, 7030 Gravois Ave., St. Louis. There was a parish Rosary Dec. 26 at Meierhoffer Funeral Home and Crematory where the family received friends.
