Robert E. Ray, 83, Lee’s Summit, died Jan. 4, 2012.

Mr. Ray was born Aug. 27, 1928, in Garden City to Dow and Gladys Ray. He served his country in the Army infantry during World War II in Japan. After the war he came home for a short time, then to Korea during the Korean Conflict. On Oct. 30, 1952, he married the love of his life, Pat Hart. He retired from Yellow Freight after 40 years and was a member of the Masons, Scottish Rite and Shriners.

Survivors include his wife, Pat, of the home; daughters, Michelle Davenport (Kelly) and Robin Ray (Steve Covell); grandchildren, Jennifer Falkner (Brian), Kaci Snyder, Kourtney Francis (Dale Skillman), Cody Davenport, Nicholas Lawrence and Michael Lawrence; and great-grandchildren, Taylor, Connor, Luke, Tanya, Shyanne, Karter and Dalton.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Jan. 8 at Langsford Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at the funeral home at 10 a.m. Jan. 9.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the VA Hospital in Robert’s name.
