LSN rolls past first round

West loses to Shawnee Mission Northwest 66-22

Lee’s Summit North High School ran past Southwest 69-28 in the first round of the Truman Tournament Jan. 16. The Broncos had a 46-13 lead at halftime.

“I thought we did a great job making offensive decisions throughout the game,” Lee’s Summit North Head Coach Tricia Lillygren said. “We distributed the ball well and played solid defense.”

Erica Nelson led Lee’s Summit North in scoring with 18 points. McKenzie Kellogg had 14 points, Mollie Williams added 10 points and Imani Johnson netted nine points. Courtney Osborn had eight points, Jaden Powell had four points, Madi Wilkins added three points, Cady Lennan netted two points and Hannah Johnson had one point.

The Broncos, now 11-2, will move on to the semifinals against Shawnee Mission Northwest at 5:30 p.m. Friday.

Shawnee Mission Northwest took down Lee’s Summit West 66-22 in the first round of the tournament. The Titans were behind 43-13 at halftime.

Emiah Bingley led the Titans in scoring with nine points, followed by Danielle Crawford with seven points. Kate Bernhard had four points and Taylor Jackson added two points.
