Local student makes Columbia College list
Krystal Phelps of Lees Summit was named to the fall semester deans list at Columbia College in Columbia. To be named to the list, a student must have competed 12 semester hours and achieved a minimum grade-point average of 3.5.
Local student makes Trinity deans list
Hannah Wasco of Lees Summit was named to the fall semester deans list at Trinity Christian College in Palos Heights, Ill. To be eligible for the list, students must be enrolled full-time and earn a minimum 3.5 grade-point average.
Four make Drury list
Four Lees Summit students earned spots on the fall semester deans list at Drury University in Springfield. They are Danielle Barber, James Dir, Jennifer Rogers and Matthew Stacks. To qualify, students had to carry a full-time course load and maintain a grade-point average of at least 3.6.
Student initiated into math society
Logan Keeler of Lees Summit recently was initiated into the Missouri-Beta Chapter of Kappa Mu Epsilon, a national mathematics society, at the University of Central Missouri. Keeler, the son of Jeff and Kathy Keeler, is a sophomore at UCM majoring in actuarial science. He is a 2010 graduate of Blue Springs South High School. The primary purpose of KME is to join together in common fellowship those individuals who are serious students of mathematics. A candidate for membership in the Missouri-Beta Chapter must be a regularly enrolled student at UCM, have completed at least three semesters of college course work and rank in the upper 35 percent of his or her class. He or she also must have completed at least three college mathematics courses with an overall B average, including one semester of calculus and at least two mathematics courses at UCM. The chapter meets monthly during the academic school year to hear a discussion about mathematics topics of mutual interest.
