Several Raymore-Peculiar swimmers reached personal bests in the meet against Lees Summit Jan. 17 at Harrisonville.
We have several varsity swimmers out with injuries right now that we hope to have back by conference, Ray-Pec head coach Matt Majors said. I am extremely proud of the girls they have really stepped it up this year, breaking several school records. Lees Summit won the meet 246-33.
The girls swam as well as can be expected, Lees Summit head coach Bruce Holder said. Their times are a little rough but they also swam nearly 9,000 yards for the day and every day this week. That is all part of the process. This week we will be totally run down and the next two weeks we will recover to be ready for the conference meet at the end of the season.
Lees Summit won all three relays. The 200-yard medley relay team of Megan Black, Rebecca Foley, Amanda Hatfield and Sydney Butler took first place with a time of 2:07.1 minutes. The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Sidney Drew, Ashlyn Black, Georgia Gettys and Amanda Hatfield finished first with a time of 1:52.31 minutes and the 400-yard freestyle relay team of Drew, Ashlyn Black, Butler and Gettys took first with a time of 4:05.96 minutes.
The Tigers also took individual first places in every race. Gettys finished first in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:10.94 minutes and first in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:06.38 minutes. Drew placed first in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:22.37 minutes. Butler took two wins, finishing first in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 27.37 seconds and in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 59.61 seconds.
Megan Black took first in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 6:12.18 minutes, Ashley Roth placed first in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:15.56 minutes and Foley finished first in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:17.5 minutes.
