Electrical fire damages home

Fire that was started by an electrical failure inside a wall caused extensive damage early Monday to a home at 102 S.W. Fourth St.

The Lee’s Summit Fire Department responded at 3:54 a.m. to the home, where an occupant reported an electrical odor and light smoke in the house.

At the time the fire department arrived, nothing was visible from the outside of a one-story, single-family residence, and all of the occupants were out of the house.

Firefighters entered the building and quickly located a fire inside the front wall of the house that had spread to the attic. The wall and ceiling were opened and the fire was extinguished. The fire was under control by 4:25 a.m.
