Free adult literacy, ESL, GED classes offered

Metropolitan Community College-Longview and the Independence School District have partnered to bring a number of free adult education courses to the Longview campus.

Starting this month, the college began to take enrollment for the classes, which will offer educational opportunities to adults looking to learn new reading skills, student English as a second language or receive their GED.

The first classes to be offered are English as a Second Language, Math Prep and Adult Literacy & GED. The noncredit English as a Second Language course will be offered from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Mondays through Thursdays. Enrollment dates are Feb. 23, March 29 and May 5.

The Math Prep course will be offered from 9 a.m. to noon on Tuesdays and Thursdays with an open lab from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Fridays. Enrollment dates are Feb. 14-16, March 26-28 and May 7-9.

Adult Literacy & GED classes will be held from 9 a.m. to noon and from noon to 3 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays, from 9 a.m. to noon on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Monday through Thursday.
