Youth talent show to aid hungry kids
In an effort to raise money for hungry children in the Lee’s Summit R-7 School District, the youth at Colbern Road Community of Christ are organizing a talent show.
The show will take place at 3 p.m. April 15 in the sanctuary of the church, 27507 E. Colbern Road, and all local youth ages 18 and younger are invited to participate.
Auditions are not required, and talent will not be judged. All participants will be recognized for helping raise money to feed chronically hungry children, and refreshments will be served following the talent show.
During the show, the youth will collect an offering for local nonprofit Cold water’s No Hungry Kids! ministry, which is helping provide more than 500 Lee’s Summit children in low-income housing with sack lunches every week.
Each $200 raised can feed a child for an entire school years, and each $260 can feed the child for an entire calendar year.
A rehearsal for the talent show will take place at 6 p.m. April 13 at the church, and all youth who are planning to participate should plan to attend.
Lyrics and dancing involved in talent show acts should be appropriate for young audiences and respectful of the church setting.
Those wishing to participate in the show are asked to register by sending an email to youth@colbernCoChrist.org.
