Gourds and Ghosts on Oct. 6 in Downtown Lee’s Summit
Gourds and ghosts will abound as Downtown Lee’s Summit Main Street hosts two upcoming events on Oct. 6: the Farmers Market Harvest Fest from 7 a.m. to noon, at the corner of Second and Douglas streets; and the Haunted & Historic Spaces Tours at 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., beginning at Got Art Gallery, 18 S.W. Third St.
The Harvest Fest at the Downtown Lee’s Summit Farmers Market features live music, face-painting and more. The first 100 kids will get a free pumpkin to decorate. Farmers and growers will have a variety of products available for purchase, including produce, gourds, pumpkins, mums and more.
The Haunted & Historic Spaces Tours begin with a wine reception at Got Art Gallery. Attendees will tour both residential and commercial second-floor spaces and hear about their histories and ghostly pasts, such as “Dewy,” the ghost who has haunted the family-owned Do Drop Inn for more than 50 years, and the ghosts on S.E. Main Street who pull books from shelves and spook pedestrians as they walk by. Local actor James Wright will lead the tours.
Both the Harvest Fest and the Haunted & Historic Spaces Tours are presented by Downtown Lee’s Summit Main Street, a 501c3 nonprofit organization dedicated to the preservation and revitalization of Downtown Lee’s Summit. For more information, visit downtownls.org or call 816-246-6598.
