Lee’s Summit teens charged in elementary school break-in
Westview Elementary School was burglarized in the early morning hours of Oct. 30
Three Lee’s Summit teens are in police custody after being charged in Jackson County Court with second degree burglary.
Jonathan R. Wood, 17, Thomas E. Petrucci, 18, and Ryan W. McCarthy, 18, all of Lee’s Summit, were arrested after police with the Lee’s Summit Police Department responded in the early morning hours of Oct. 30th to Westview Elementary School in the 200 block of N.W. Ward Road on a business alarm.
Upon arrival officers located an open door and observed three suspects running from the school. Officers pursued the suspects on foot and the first suspect was taken into custody after a short foot chase. The two additional suspects were taken into custody a short time later in the area.
All three suspects were charged in Jackson County Court with second degree burglary and are awaiting trial.
