Fire damages Lee’s Summit home
Lee’s Summit fire officials are investigating the cause of a fire that heavily damaged the upstairs bedroom and a portion of an attic in a home in the 800 block of N.E. Michael Drive.
The Lee’s Summit Fire Department responded to the fire at 8:44 p.m. Nov. 4, 2012 after numerous callers reported fire coming from the back of the house.
When the fire department arrived, smoke and fire was coming from the back bedroom windows of the two-story, single family residence. All occupants were out of the house.
According to a press release from the LSFD, crews went inside the structure to search the building and fight the fire in the upstairs bedroom. An initial search confirmed that all of the occupants were outside. After the initial knock down of the fire crews extinguished any remaining hot spots.
The fire, which heavily damaged the upstairs bedroom and a portion of the attic and sustained heavy heat and smoke damage, was under control by 9:14 p.m.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
