Lee’s Summit Sunrise Rotary Club

7:15 a.m., Emaline Ballroom – Every Friday morning you are cordially invited to attend the Lee’s Summit Sunrise Rotary at the Emaline Ballroom, 616 S.W. Third St. You will have the opportunity to meet our many business members, have breakfast provided by local restaurateurs and hear an interesting program. “Whobilation Christmas Celebration”

6-9 p.m. (Dec. 13, 14 & 15) Lee’s Summit First Assembly, 425 SW Oldham Pkwy – A free family event for the community. Bring your family and experience Christmas like never before with games, crafts, refreshments, prizes, gifts, and fun. “A Christmas Story”

7:30 p.m. Dec. 14, at 2:30 and 7:30 p.m. Dec. 15 and at 2:30 p.m. Dec. 16. Tickets are $6 in advance and $7 at the door. Lee’s Summit West high school, 2600 Southwest Ward Road – This hilarious and beloved holiday tale focuses on Ralphie, who wants only one thing for Christmas: a Red Ryder BB Gun. As those around him object, saying, "You’ll shoot your eye out," Ralphie continues his quest to obtain this highly prized item. Performances will also include the annual holiday bazaar featuring items for home decoration and last-minute gifts.

Jazz Band Christmas Concert

5 p.m., Dec. 16, Woods Chapel Church, 4725 NE Lakewood Way – A Christmas celebration with Woods Chapel Church’s very own Jazz Band. The big band has performed locally and nationally – a concert you don’t want to miss. Bring the family, a neighbor or a friend for an evening full of Christmas joy.

Al-Anon

Noon, First Presbyterian Church of Lee’s Summit, 1625 N.W. O’Brien Road – Is someone’s drinking causing you problems? Come to Al-Anon and join friends and family of alcoholics. The group meets weekly at noon on Mondays and 7:30 p.m. Thursdays.

Lee’s Summit Toastmasters Club

6 p.m., Legacy Christian Church, 2150 E. Langsford Road – The Lee’s Summit Toastmasters Club No. 5317 meets on the first, third and fifth Mondays each month for those interested in public speaking. Guests are always welcome.

Compulsive Eaters Anonymous HOW

Freedom to Speak Toastmasters

Noon, John Knox Village, 500 N.W. Murray Road – Toastmasters International is a non-profit organization that helps members develop and improve their public speaking abilities. The Lee’s Summit group meets at John Knox Village on the first, third and fifth Tuesdays of the month. For more information, call 816-347-7832.

Helping Hands of the Willing Workers

1 p.m., Longview Chapel Christian Church, 850 S.W. Longview Road – Join a weekly group that makes crafts and sews for the benefit of the church. The Helping Hands make items throughout the year to earn money for the building fund and make cheer baskets for the homebound. The group invites anyone looking for fellowship, fun and those who enjoy creating items, to join them. The group furnishes all supplies and is always looking for new ideas. Lee’s Summit Downtown Rotary Club

4:45 p.m., Lee’s Summit Firefighters Union Hall, 322 S.E. Douglas St. – The club’s mission is to meet the charitable needs of the local community and participate in worldwide humanitarian causes by utilizing the energy and dedication of its members.
