LSHS students collect over 1,000 food items for Harvesters
Lee’s Summit High School students and staff members recently donated more than 1,000 food items for the Harvesters Community Food Network in Kansas City. In addition, the school collected enough money to fund 50 BackSnack items.
Through Harvesters’ BackSnack program, students from low-income families receive a backpack full of food on Fridays to help combat weekend hunger. The backpacks are delivered to students confidentially through their schools, and the children take them home to provide food throughout the weekend.
