Collecting in the cold

Lee’s Summit Firefighter Vince Frasier, a 16-year member of the department, collects money from a passing motorist at Third and Douglas streets over the lunch hour Dec. 20, the first day of the annual Boot Block campaign. The fundraiser will take place through Dec. 22 in downtown Lee’s Summit, with 100 percent of the money going to the needy family fund for Lee’s Summit Social Services. In 2011, the Boot Block netted $18,000 for the cause.
