City budget receives award for 25 years

ReprintLee’s Summit’s Fiscal Year 2013 budget recently received the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada.
This is the highest form of recognition in governmental budgeting and Lee’s Summit has received this significant recognition for 25 years. In order to receive the budget award, the City had to satisfy nationally accepted guidelines for effective budget presentation. They are designed to assess how well a budget serves as a:
• policy document
• financial plan
• operations guide
• communications device
