HUBERT C. SEBOLT

Hubert C. Sebolt, 88, of Blue Springs, died Dec. 22 at Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence.

Hubert was born Jan. 16, 1924 in Blue Springs, the son of Charles Albert and Bessie Elizabeth (Shier) Sebolt. He graduated from Grain Valley High School in 1941. He graduated from the University of Missouri in 1951 with Bachelor of Agriculture and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degrees. On Jan. 30, 1951 he married Geraldine Jennings in Kansas City, MO. During World War II Hubert served in the United States Army from 1943 to 1946. He was assigned to the Signal Corps and was stationed throughout Africa and the Middle East.

Hubert practiced veterinary medicine first in Richmond from 1951 to 1957 and then in Buckner from 1957 to 1993. He and Geraldine then moved to Blue Springs. Hubert faithfully attended First Baptist Church of Blue Springs for the last nineteen years where he was part of the Young-At-Heart Bible class and the Keenagers group. Most recently, Hubert greatly enjoyed traveling to Washington, D.C. as part of the Heartland Honor Flight on Oct. 16, 2012 to visit the World War II Memorial and other Memorials along with his son and grandson who served as guardians to Hubert and another veteran on the Flight.

Hubert was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.

He is survived by his sister, Helen Dickson, Warrensburg; son, Larry Sebolt and his wife, Nancy, Lee’s Summit, grandson, Josh Sebolt and his wife, Allyson; granddaughter, Allison Gibeson and her husband, Matthew; great-grandsons, Tim Sebolt and Silas Sebolt; and great-granddaughter, Joanna Sebolt.

Funeral services were held on Dec. 27 with burial in Greenwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the building fund at First Baptist Church of Blue Springs, 1405 West Main Street, Blue Springs, MO, 64015.
