DR. WAYNE A. BELSER

Dr. Wayne A. Belser passed away on Dec. 31, 2012.

Wayne was born on Aug. 24, 1930. He was a graduate of the Lee’s Summit High School class of 1948. He served four years in the U.S. Navy as an Aviation Boatswain’s Mate aboard the U.S.S. Princeton. After his discharge from the Navy, he attended Rockhurst College and the UMKC School of Dentistry. During dental school, he was a member of Xi Psi Phi. After his graduation from dental school, he opened an office in Lee’s Summit where he practiced general dentistry for 37 years, retiring in 1998. Wayne was a lifetime member of the American Dental Association and the Greater Kansas City Dental Society. He also served on the local board of the Selective Service System for several years and was a member of the Lee’s Summit Chamber of Commerce. In retirement Wayne loved spending time with his family, going fishing and vacationing on Sanibel Island, Fla.

Wayne is survived by his wife of 51 years, Paula J. Belser; a daughter, Lisa and her husband, Adolph Franzoi, and their three children; and son, Steve and his wife, Suzanne and their four children. Also surviving are a brother, Thomas Robert “Bob” and sister, Martha Reinhardt, and a large extended family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on the Jan. 5 at Our Lady of the Presentation Catholic Church at 11 a.m. with visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Our Lady of the Presentation Catholic Church or the Lee’s Summit Parks Department Bailey Farm Park.
