Underwood Elementary teacher honored as Missouri Lottery Star of the Classroom
Rachel Gooding, third-grade teacher at Underwood Elementary, was named Missouri Lottery Star of the Classroom during the Dec. 23 Chiefs game for her excellence in the field of education. Ms. Gooding was nominated by a colleague at Underwood Elementary.
Through the recognition, she received two tickets to see the Chiefs take on the Colts, a parking pass and pre-game field passes for the Dec. 23 Chiefs game. Ms. Gooding was honored during the game, receiving a certificate and appearing on ArrowVision, the Chiefs in-stadium video boards.
The following public-service announcement was also broadcast during the game: “Rachel Gooding has taught in Lee’s Summit for 19 years. She received an Excellence In Teaching Award in 1996. For over 10 years, she has been the elementary social studies coordinator for the district. Rachel is also co-chair for the Math Team and a member of the Partners In Education Committee, bringing students together with business partners.”
