FRANCIS WILLIAM (DOC) SANDERS

Francis William (Doc) Sanders, 87, of Lee’s Summit, passed away on Jan. 10, 2013 at Wilshire at Lakewood.

Mr. Sanders was born on Oct. 25, 1925 in St. Louis. He was a Pharmacist mate third class in the United States Navy 1944-1946. He married Mary (Moon) Sanders in 1948. They were married 55 years until her death. He was a Signalman for Missouri Pacific Railroad and Union Pacific Railroad for 38 years. During that time he also served as president of Brotherhood of Railroad Signalmen Local No. 72. He was a member of Our Lady of Presentation Catholic Church for 48 years. Francis loved to fish; he did fresh water as well as deep sea fish. He also collected and assembled model train sets as well as had a model railway set up. He was very involved with his family. He will be deeply missed by his family.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary I Sanders, Lily A. Sanders (mother), Loretta M. Sanders (sister) and Luther G. Sanders (father).

He is survived by his daughters Shari L. Freeland and Dawn Sanders, son-in-law, Richard G. Freeland, grand-daughter Brandye T. Freeland and grandson, Tyson G. Freeland.

A Funeral Mass was held on Jan. 15 with burial in the Lee’s Summit Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in Mr. Sander’s memory may be made to Crossroads Hospice.
