Meet Craig McCord and view his photography this week at City Hall.

A viewing and reception is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Jan. 17 in City Hall, 220 SE Green St. Light hors d’oeuvres will be provided. In addition, guests can sample wine, compliments of J Beans.

McCord is a self-taught photographer, who started developing his photography skills in the early 1970’s with a used Petri 35 mm camera. His photography influence included Ansel Adams, Brett Weston, John Sexton, Elliott Porter, David Muench and Art Wolfe.

Over time he developed a fondness for wide angle perspectives and using foreground elements to add a sense of depth, drawing the viewer into the image. His portfolio includes a variety of picturesque landscapes from across the United States where he is inspired to capture the beauty and intimate details of nature.

Now working exclusively with digital SLR cameras, he uses light and form to convey the magnificence found in the natural environment and to help express the significance of preservation and revitalization of nature.

McCord’s artwork will be on display at City Hall during normal business hours from Jan. 17 until mid-April. To see more of his work, visit www.craigmccordphotogra-
