Summit Christian Academy recently selected eight students to receive the school’s Christian character award for the first semester.

Four elementary students, two junior high students, and two high school students were chosen.

The Christian character award is given to encourage students to pursue the highest level of personal and academic development. Students are chosen based on their ability to act as positive role models for classmates, demonstrating honesty, integrity, and respect with spiritual attitudes. SCA recognizes elementary students quarterly and secondary students each semester as they demonstrate Christian attributes.

First-grade student Samuel Mpinga, son of Peter Mpinga and Janet Serwanga of Kansas City, second-grade student Katie Coats, daughter of Andy and Sarah Coats of Lee’s Summit, fourth-grade student Haydn Godshall, son of Wade and Holly Godshall of Lee’s Summit, and fifth-grade student Paige Weiskirch, daughter of Rob and Amy Weiskirch of Buckner were selected from elementary students.

Seventh-grade student Kamara Henryhand, daughter of Carla Mitchell of Kansas City and Shaun Henryhand of Grain Valley, eighth-grade student Logan Perue, son of Robert and Jennifer Perue of Lee’s Summit, 10th-grade student Aaron Banks, son of Rick and Cynthia Banks of Lee’s Summit, and senior Sarah Lambert, daughter of John and Terri Lambert of Belton, were selected from secondary students.

The students were chosen by the SCA faculty and presented with a $50 U.S. savings bond and Christian character certificate during a weekly chapel service.
