Beverly Ann Myers McGuire, 81, died Jan. 28, 2013 at St. Luke’s East Hospital, Lee’s Summit.
After a brief teaching career in the Independence school system, she became a homemaker to raise her two sons. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and entertaining all who entered her home. She was active in Independence Young Matrons, PTA, served on the Altar Guild and was also active in the Episcopal Church Women’s group at St. Paul’s. She was a 50 year-plus member of her beloved bridge group and enjoyed playing Bunko.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry E. McGuire; her parents, E. Otis and Mary E. Myers; and two sisters, Shirley May and Marilou Marshall.
Survivors include her sister, Ramona Gleitz, Sanibel, FL; two sons and their spouses, the Rev. Mark McGuire and Donna McGuire, Matthew A. and Debbie McGuire, Lee’s Summit; two grandchildren; Jennifer Cook, Independence and Justin McGuire, Greenwood; three great-grandchildren, Xavier, Lincoln and Harper.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Feb. 2, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 416 S.E. Grand Ave., Lee’s Summit. Visitation will follow the service. Inurnment at Mt. Washington Cemetery, Independence, will be private.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, that donations be made in Mrs. McGuire’s memorial to Independence Young Matrons, the Salvation Army or St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Lee’s Summit.
