A Silver Alert issued Feb. 5 was canceled early the next day when family members found the subject of the alert safe in Independence

Tony Conn, 73, of Independence was located in the early hours of Feb. 6 when his family found him in his vehicle near U.S. 24 and Lee’s Summit Road in Independence.

The Independence Police Department issued the alert after Conn left St. Luke’s Hospital in Lee’s Summit to visit his wife at Truman Medical Center-Lakewood but never arrived.

Conn was en route to visit his wife at TMC, but was last seen at St. Luke’s East Hospital in Lee’s Summit and was believed to be back en route to TMC when he couldn’t be located.

Around 2:53 p.m., Feb. 5 authorities reported that Conn’s credit card was used at a Casey’s in Chillicothe.

Authorities were worried about Conn because he suffers from high blood pressure and dementia.
