Oliver “Gene” Ridge, 78 of Lee’s Summit passed away on Feb. 11, 2013.
Gene was born at home on May 1,1934 in Warrensburg, to Charles and Leota Ridge. On Nov. 17, 1956 he married his wife, Betty. She precedes him in death.
He was a Deacon at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Lee’s Summit. Gene worked for GM for 30 years and after retirement began driving an Oats van. Gene enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing cards. He was a jokester; he appreciated a good practical joke and loved laughing. He truly loved and excelled at being a grandfather to his three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Betty and brother Eddie Ridge.
Survivors include his daughter, Tammy Prewitt and husband Bryan of Lee’s Summit, twin sister Kathleen Long of Colorado, three grandchildren; Courtney Johnson and husband Jeff, Whitney Prewitt, Casey Prewitt and wife Marissa and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. on Feb.13, 2013 at Langsford Funeral Home. Visitation will be held one hour prior at 3 p.m.
