hearing song

of the year

he remembers

being young

not always

an easy time

but also fun

after drinking

too much

bar closed

or party done

as the lyrics say

he needed

someone

to carry him

home

one night

there was

this girl

sound familiar

didnt know

each other much

danced joked

jousted a little

he had found

someone

to carry him

home

she helped him

toward the car

sat drivers side

played his favorite

music on the way

when they arrived

she guided him

inside directly

to a bedroom

removed

his coat

stretched

him out

loosened

his collar

took off

his shoes

found a blanket

for cover

brushed

his lips

with hers

then

she

left

morning sun

he awoke

couldnt find

her anywhere

told himself

he didnt care

still asked

around awhile

adding

if you see her

say hello

now

he wonders

is his memory

fading

did that

actually

happen

was it only

a dream

might have been

an angel

if he believed

in such things

what ever

became of her

would she recall

him at all

will she return

during his final

helplessness

to carry him

home
