Campbell Middle School names Lewis principal for 2013-14

Dr. Sherri Lewis, currently assistant principal for Bernard Campbell Middle School, was named 2013-14 principal for BCMS at the Feb. 14 Lee’s Summit R-7 Board of Education meeting. She will replace Dr. Vicki Porter, who is retiring this summer.

Dr. Lewis has served as assistant principal at BCMS for six years. She has worked at Campbell Middle School since 1988, also serving as the BCMS school improvement coordinator and as a language arts teacher. In addition, she has taught at the university level at both Avila University and the University of Missouri-Columbia.

A Lee’s Summit resident, Dr. Lewis earned her doctorate in educational leadership from Nova Southeastern University, her master’s degree in secondary administration from the University of Missouri-Kansas City and her bachelor’s degree in secondary English education from UMKC.

Dr. Lewis has written several publications and grants and also served as a presenter at district, state and national conferences.
