LSHS students capture awards at Heart of Ozarks Speech/Debate Tourney

Lee’s Summit High School students captured awards at the Ozarks Speech/Debate Tourney, held Feb.8-9 at Joplin High School.

Competing in the semifinals of individual events were Macy Gilbreath, Josh Parker, Brooke Vandevelde, Group Improvisation; Johnny Christy, International Extemporaneous Speaking; Becca Stevick, Radio Speaking; and Josh Parker, Radio Speaking.

As a finalist in an individual event, Becca Stevick placed fifth in Original Oratory. In the quarterfinals of debate events, Wayne Jordan and Sidney Mason competed in Varsity Policy Debate, Coral McLaughlin and Sean Griffin competed in Novice Policy Debate and Alex Brooks competed in Varsity Lincoln-Douglas Debate.

Breaking into semifinals of debate events were Elle Wright-Morrison and Elle Trumble, competing in Novice Policy Debate.
