The Pfizer Agricultural Division announced plans to construct an agricultural product manufacturing facility in Lee’s Summit. Construction on the 103-acre site is scheduled to being this spring, with completion tentatively set for 1972.

The city is in the process of purchasing the old railroad depot across from City Hall from the Missouri Pacific (now Union Pacific) Railroad for the purpose of converting it into an annex for City Hall. The railroad sold the building to the city for $4,500 and is leasing the land where the building stands for $550 a year.

The 911 emergency telephone system became operational throughout most of the metropolitan area and Lee’s Summit officials have been made busy answering calls to the three-digit number. Nearly all have been made by residents who are curious about the new system than by persons involved in emergency situations.
