R-7 School District students advance to Jackson County spelling bee finals

Several Lee’s Summit R-7 students are advancing to the Jackson County Spelling Bee finals after qualifying through county division bees held during February.

R-7 qualifiers are Meah Wilburn, Highland Park Elementary; Sam Royce, Longview Farm Elementary; Violet Stocker, Summit Pointe Elementary; Ashleigh Bailey, Underwood Elementary; Aaiden Jones, Westview Elementary; and Stephie Silker, Greenwood Elementary.

R-7 students qualify for the county competition by winning spelling bees at their schools. Check next week’s Lee’s Summit Journal for a feature on the Jackson County Spelling Bee winner, who is from Lee’s Summit.
