Flory chosen as a director of health care foundation

Alan Flory, president of ReDiscover, has been elected to a three-year term on the Board of Directors of The Health Care Foundation of Greater Kansas City.

The Health Care Foundation of Greater Kansas City provides leadership, advocacy and resources to eliminate barriers to quality health for the uninsured and underserved. Since it began grant making in 2005, it has awarded over $160 million to agencies addressing health needs in the community.

“All of the individuals bring with them a wealth of knowledge, expertise and a great passion for our mission to help eliminate barriers to quality health for the uninsured and underserved,” said Steve Roling, HCF President/CEO in statement regarding the 2013 board members.

ReDiscover is a nonprofit community mental health agency that offers a full spectrum of programs and services for people whose lives have been affected by mental illness and/or substance abuse.

Flory has worked at ReDiscover for 19 years and currently serves as President and Chief Executive Officer. He earned his bachelor’s degree in 1970 from McPherson College in McPherson, Kan. and received a master’s degree in Counseling from Arizona State University. Alan has over 39 years of experience in the field of mental health and substance abuse. He serves on boards and committees throughout the Kansas City area such as the Community Network for Behavioral Health Care, Missouri Mental Health Coalition, Metropolitan Council of Community Mental Health Centers, Lee’s Summit Health Education Advisory Board, Government Relations Committees of the Chambers of Commerce in Lee’s Summit and Grandview, Lee’s Summit Civic Roundtable, New Directions Behavioral Health Provider Advisory Committee, Timberlakes Estates Homeowners Association and others.
