The Lee’s Summit Cares Community of Character Business Sector will award four scholarships in the amount of $750 each to one individual at the three Lee’s Summit high schools as well as one at an additional local school.
The scholarships will focus on excellent character and are one-time awards granted at the end of the student’s high school senior year.
The scholarships are to be used exclusively for expenses related to attending a two-year or four-year college, university or vocational school. The scholarship funds will be sent directly to the post-secondary educational institution by the Community of Character Business Sector. Applications are due by March 20.
To obtain additional information about the scholarships visit lscharacter.org or contact the high school counseling offices.
In addition to creating the annual scholarship fund, the Community of Character Business Sector made a $900 donation to Lee’s Summit Social Services with monies raised from the sale of centerpieces from the Mayor’s Character Breakfast.
The Community of Character Business Sector organizes the Mayor’s Character Breakfast which was attended by 585 people last month.
