Approximately 36 Lee’s Summit R-7 School District PTA members and citizens participated in a Kids First Town Hall Meeting, hosted March 8 by Missouri PTA and the Lee’s Summit Council of PTAs.
Elected officials attending included Sen. Will Kraus, Rep. Jeff Grisamore, Rep. Gary Cross, Rep. Mike Cierpiot, Rep. Donna Pfautsch, Rep. Joe Runions and Rep. Sheila Solon.
Dorothy Gardner, Missouri PTA vice president of legislation and advocacy, moderated the event with the assistance of Jacque Gragg of the Lee’s Summit R-7 PTA Council. Questions were related to Missouri PTA’s top priorities for local control of schools, funding for early childhood education, increased parental engagement and tax credits for tuition to parents of nonpublic school children.
