ROBERT LEE (BOB) WILLIAMS
Robert Lee (Bob) Williams, 78, of Lee’s Summit, passed away March 24, 2013.
Bob was born on May 4, 1034 in Geneva, Ohio. He lived in Ohio until enlisting in the United States Air Force in 1952. He served in active duty for 10 years and proudly served in the Korean War. He finished his military career after serving six years in the Air Force Reserves. He and Jeanne Hicks were married in 1955 at the Grandview Air Force Base in Grandview, Missouri. After his military career, Bob worked for AT&T for 31 years, retiring in 1993. He was area vice-president of Communication Workers of America, a member of VFW Post 5789, American Legion 189 and the New Outlook Pioneers.
After retiring from AT&T, Bob was able to pursue his love of fishing. He spent most days at Blue Springs Lake. Bob was always available to help people, especially elderly and widows. He was devoted to his grandchildren, never missing any activities they were involved in.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dorman M. and Neva M. Williams, as well as his brothers, John and Bill Williams.
Survivors include his wife, Jeanne and his three daughters, Terri (Steve) Wynne, Debbie (Jim) Crossley and Jonie (Jeff) Gann, seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 11:30 a.m., March 30, at Lee’s Summit Bible Church, 1200 NE Colbern Road, Lee’s Summit. Burial at Lee’s Summit Cemetery. Friends may call at 10:30 a.m. at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Developing Potential, Inc., 120 W. Walnut, Independence, Mo., 64050, in honor of Bob’s grandson, Jeremy Wynne. DPI is a quality day-hab service for adults with developmental disabilities to foster independence.
Bob went to heaven in a snowstorm. He loved the snow, so God’s timing was perfect.
