Howard Pressly, 518 Fifth Street, was selected by members of the Lee’s Summit Jaycees as their representative in the state contest for the "outstanding young farmer" award.
The candidate for the Lee’s Summit city council are as follows: First Ward are Estelle Martin, Leslie Olson, Logan Childers and Leroy Long. Second Ward are Allan Kay Rider, Dwight Smittle and Robert Walz. Third Ward are Ray Davis and Don Browne.
Burton Motors, the Dodge dealership at 126 East Third, is beginning their 31st year in Lee’s Summit. W.M. Burton is the owner, Tony Fields is in charge of parts, Charles Fann, Maurice Tyson and Morris Rutherford are mechanics, Delbert Smoots has the body shop and Dave Metheny and Don Fann are in sales.
Jim Brockman, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. James Brockman was the recipient of the annual Bobby James Memorial Scholarship at the Mustang Club basketball banquet at Southern Methodist University, Dallas, Texas. The award is presented to the outstanding junior basketball player on the basis of leadership, scholarship, character and basketball achievement. Brockman is a 1960 graduate of Lee’s Summit High School.
