LSNHS robotics team qualifies for world championships

April 10, 2013

The Lee’s Summit North High School Broncobots robotics team competed at the Alamo Regional March 28-30 in San Antonio, Texas, qualifying for the FIRST World Championship. FIRST stands for For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology.

The LSNHS robot finished 13 out of 61 teams and was chosen to play in the elimination matches March 30, losing during the quarterfinals. In addition to the actual robot on the field, teams are judged for various awards. The LSNHS Broncobots won the most prestigious award given to one robotics team at each regional, the Regional Chairman’s Award. This award qualifies the team to compete in the World Championships in St. Louis at the end of April.

The Regional Chairman’s Award recognizes teams for their exemplary efforts in spreading the FIRST message, as well as their talents in organizing materials for their presentations.

With the San Antonio competition, all three Lee’s Summit R-7 robotics teams, including Lee’s Summit High School Team Driven, Lee’s Summit North Broncobots and Lee’s Summit West Team Titanium, have qualified for the FIRST World Championship.
