Local student receives scholarship at Waldorf College

April 10, 2013

Jacob Bales of Lee’s Summit received the Verna and Harry Reynolds Memorial Scholarship during Honors Day at Waldorf College in Forest City, Iowa.

Honors Day is a day for recognizing students with accolades and scholarships. The annual event was held April 3 in Waldorf’s Atrium. The scholarship is awarded to incoming freshmen or returning freshmen who are interested in education, political science, or English-based academics. Any unused funds may be awarded on the basis of academics to students interested in other occupations.

Scholarship donors are able to meet with the student recipients. At the awards presentation, students and donors share college experiences and discuss career plans. This year more than 200 scholarships were awarded to Waldorf students, with an additional 14 to be awarded to incoming freshmen.

A selection committee composed of Waldorf faculty and staff reviewed the requirements of each scholarship and determined deserving recipients.
