Lee’s Summit In Action to host benefit for LSHS graduate

April 17, 2013

Lee’s Summit in Action will host a fundraising art sale to benefit a Lee’s Summit West High School graduate who is battling cancer. The sale will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. May 4 at Mr. Goodcents, 705 SE Melody Lane.

During the event, artwork from Lee’s Summit R-7 high school students will be available for purchase by the public. A free cookie will be given to anyone who donates.

All proceeds will help Brittany Blake, who was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma (head and neck cancer) in 2010. Although she was in remission for some time, she has been re-diagnosed with a reoccurring tumor and began treatments again in October 2012.

Lee’s Summit in Action is a group of LSHS students who select community and global service projects each year.
