SCA brings International Festival to Lee’s Summit

Summit Christian Academy will host its first annual International Festival from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. April 30 at the SCA Elementary School, 1450 SW Jefferson in Lee’s Summit. The Lee’s Summit Human Relations Commission is one of the sponsors of this community-wide event and members from the Kansas City Mayor’s Ethnic Enrichment Commission will also be participating.

Those attending will travel through the continents and experience music, art, mission projects, games and sample food from around the world. SCA students and volunteers from the Mayor’s Ethnic Enrichment Commission will present live entertainment. Experience a parade of flags and costumes from countries, including South Korea, China, Venezuela, Brazil, Mozambique, Germany, and more.

“We live in a world where we are globally connected,” said SCA International Director Kathy Tharp. “This event will give students, families and the community the opportunity to have a glimpse and taste of other countries without leaving the area. It will be a wonderful event for families.”

Tickets may be purchased at the door or in advance. Purchasing tickets prior to the event and receive two additional Taste tickets. Adults are $10 (includes admission and 10 Taste tickets), Children ages 4-11 are $5 and 3 and under are free. There is also a family admission of $30.
