Jack Logan Winburn

Jack Logan Winburn died April 10, 2013 at his home in Hoschton, Ga. He was 84 and lived in Lee’s Summit most of his life. He had devoted his life to his family.

He retired in 1986 from Southwestern Bell after 37 years. His greatest joy in life was his wife, Jerry, their three children and three grandchildren. He supported them in every dream they had. He was a strong man who felt deeply and was not embarrassed to say he loved you, or choke up with emotion.

He and Jerry celebrated 62 years together.

He served in the Navy as an airplane mechanic between World War II and the Korean War. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He had a knack for building or fixing anything. He was a volunteer for Lifeline of Northeast Georgia Health System and a member of Hamilton Mill United Methodist Church in Georgia.

He was preceded in death by a son, Jim.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Jack Winburn and daughter-in-law Kristi; his daughter, Jan Winburn, Gary Dorsey and three grandchildren; Jake Winburn, Jim Winburn, and Ella Winburn Dorsey.

A celebration of his life will be held May 17 at 1:30 p.m. at the Gamber Center, 4 SE Independence Avenue in Lee’s Summit. Donations in his memory may be made to
