LSHS, LSNHS bowling teams qualify for state competition

April 24, 2013

The school-sponsored bowling teams at Lee’s Summit High School and Lee’s Summit North High School recently qualified for the Missouri State Bowling Tournament, scheduled for May 25 in St. Joseph. Both teams qualified at the Northwest Zone Missouri Bowling Proprietors Association High School Bowling Club tournament, held April 14 at St. Joseph.

At the St. Joseph competition, LSHS placed third, averaging 199 for 15 games with a high game of 253. Lee’s Summit North placed fourth, averaging 191 with a high game of 257.

Lee’s Summit West High School placed eighth and will not advance to state competition but averaged 175 for 15 games with a high game of 256.

LSHS and LSNHS will be competing for a portion of $10,000 in scholarship money at state, which includes only 24 teams. At state, teams bowl 24 Baker games to determine the winners. Each year a different zone hosts the event. This is the third consecutive year that LSHS and LSNHS have won a spot at State.
