Lee’s Summit R-7 students qualify for National Debate Competition

Several Lee’s Summit R-7 School District students qualified this spring for the National Debate Competition, scheduled for June in Birmingham, Ala.

At Lee’s Summit High School, Johnny Christy and Tyler Behymer qualified in the category of policy debate.

Lee’s Summit North High School national qualifiers are Justin Hankins in Lincoln-Douglas debate; Mike Rodgers in United States extemporaneous speaking; and Alex Johnson, Dominick Hall and Vance Kelley in student congress.

Lee’s Summit West High School national qualifiers are Michael Brummett in Lincoln-Douglas debate and Nick VanRoss in United States extemporaneous speaking.
